I am so proud this guy signed my doctor who shirt roughly 9.5 years ago. Yes I know this is a random coincidence considering nobody ever reads whose twitter rant gets shared on imgur, but it's funny he's still using the same profile picture that made me pause to recognise him. Also he's very right and now I'm a little more proud I spend my days earning a living with making programs for researchers whose time can be better spent than trawling stackexchange for hints on how to make things work.

I did a quick Google and saw such numbers as well, so I feel quite a bit more fortunate, but ya, both suck

Funnily enough Dutch healthcare works the same way, though the copay system here is limited to 385 (so 385 twice is 770) which I have been paying in installments this year. But there are some poor sods who increase their copay up to something like 785 for a decrease in monthly payments. I don't know what order of magnitude this is different from US healthcare but yea, don't get injured in (late) December in the Netherlands either.

I know this is like 95% sure, Biden v Trump 2024, but can we wait until June at least before we smack people over the head with it?

In documentaries I've seen these people tend to say that the trick isn't so much not caring as not having to care. They do these things because up until the moment before they die, they are doing the thing they like most. Sure they expect to think "ah fuck" when they die, and sure they expect to have regrets about missing out on the things they're about to leave behind, but to give up that state of being they are in when they climb, especially hard climbs because they might die, is ludicrous.

Then, they talk. And boy is it hard to shut us up at that point!

Yea eh, wanna edit in some things you like? I'm not very rich either, far from it, but I got a few spare euros to throw to a patreon page or something if you have a suggestion! Promise I won't support someone I don't also like a lot myself, but if you want, I'm sure there are worse reasons to look at stuff I haven't seen before.

I'd be confused too if I saw a stuttering image of my buddy (like having a conversation in a dark room with a strobe light), dogs have a higher eye-framerate than we do.

If the Snitch were worth 75 points (based on a vague sense of how many points were scored in 6 seasons of Hogwarts Quidditch) then good chaser/beater teammates and obviously a good Keeper have a ticking clock because the game has no timer, you can't go for a buzzer beater, because there's no buzzer. Their goal is to score as much as possible as fast as possible, with NO sense of how much longer the game will go on for. I'll come back to Basketball for one more analogy in a bit. 2/4

Honestly if the Snitch was worth exactly half the points it normally is then Quidditch would be an interesting sport. The sport revolves around three different games being played at the same time. Beaters fly around coraling Bludgers in the area the enemy Chasers are trying to pass the Quaffle around. Chasers essentially play football on brooms. (adendum for non americans: with their hands) And IN that chaos, with a game the seekers are HEAVILY invested in, they are looking for a Snitch. >1/4
