Yeah as we were sitting there our guide casually said that some explosions have reached that far. And I'm like, oh, ok, cool. Time to go!
For our ten days there. I heard people have tried many times on several week long trips and not seen them! We got lucky!!
It's a combination of factors. Depends on solar activity, cloudless skies, temperature, etc so it all has to line up. We only saw it once

Not for this but on another note I have heard there is immense waste for the schools in LA that run these free breakfast and lunches. Sad.
