They don't actually care about anything except getting into power. "Here are some words I can say that will get me into power" is what they think when they see something they can use. That's as far as they go, and that's all they need, because their voters don't actually punish them for being inconsistent or hypocritical. As long as THEY are in power and Democrats aren't, they're fine with it. At least, that's how it looks to me.

Hopefully you can plug in to a regular plug socket somewhere. Every hour you're plugged in will add 4-5 miles of range to the battery. So while you're doing a day's work you'll get 32-40 miles back. I hope you can also plug in at home; best time to charge a car is while you're sleeping and it's parked :)
If by some miracle a Democrat is elected president again, the checks and balances will come right back. In fact, the presidency will find itself very restricted and all power will found to actually reside in $Whichever-Branch-Republicans-Control, as the founders surely intended but never wrote down.

For me the giveaway is the "always smooth" movements of the mouth. It just glides from one mouth shape to the next, even when a real mouth would be moving differently. I'm sure the next gen will fix that, though.
