Not that I don't agree with you, but I fear that the cheaper brands implement the same thing in their models as well after seeing how conveniently this sort of stuff makes money.
Before this timeline, a cheaper car didn't physically have some features to save manufacturing costs. Now, the parts are there, the price of the car reflects to the parts used, but you cannot use said parts unless you pay for the PRIVILEGE to use them. Think of it like a paint job: with extra fee, you get more expensive coating. Thats because the coating material costs more. Now, the paint is there, the car price relates to it, but it's hidden unless you buy the DLC skin.
