You would be surprised how many people buy camping/hiking gear and never use it. I got a brand new gps for 50 bucks, ultra light tent for 75
I started two years ago. Gear is pricey, I bought a good backpack at rei, but shopped reigarage/walmart/craigslist for everything else
I pack low salt food, but I make up with powder gatorade or other things to add to my water like nuun.
Its got electrolytes

My leather jacket is perforated so it breathes pretty good. I used to wear a textile but after seeing enough crash vids i opted for leather.
Yeah, what that guy said. I ride in a leather jacket, helmet, gloves, and riding boots every day. Its hot as hell in TX, but it saved me.
I literally crashed yesterday. Only slight bruising and a (severely) sprained ankle/foot. "All the gear, all the time" doctrine saved me.
