No one understood or cares about my fear of religion and those types of organizations. My own csa is from extremely family both biological and during orphanage then again by a member of my adopted family. All made me aware being gay is a death sentence. But when I point out they touched me I was forced to run as they show up to your door with a Bible and aggressive disposition. When I react to religious assistance negative they judge me instantly
Land of Lincoln is the place that handles this. But we have to suffer damages. So far we are inconvenienced. By the landlord. By the city inspector. The property manager who lied about knowledge of damage to the room(kicker I haven’t revealed in this thread; That manager is my biological mother who lost me to dcfs bc someone lied). Right now all we can do is comply until they force take, or force eviction. Only being threatened and that’s punitive not actionable.

Absolutely dumbfounded by this as well. We are in hard red county of a blue state. Dcfs says money can’t flow from them(directly)that’s a conflict of interest. Must be reimbursed after or vouchers must be issued. How we got our hotel(18 hrs before eviction) they told us they were shopping us to charities. We got 5k total for temp housing/storage. Will last maybe a week as we don’t choose how it’s spent and see no physical payment.
Because federal and state money doesn’t go back into dcfs as it runs on charities that are operated for housing and other needs(pantries, laundry, homeless shelters). This is because as a couple we make enough to be above poverty but since prices went up so fast and sustained we had nothing extra. So every govt service is off limits unless someone is qualified(disability, criminal, court mandated, or fall below poverty line). Food stamps being cut and 2 kids growing means I am so hungry.
According to our rental records the damage is in the property owner process. Owner changed post damage and post notification to property management and no help ever came. Covid happened, &it was just survive. Dcfs came in with the idea that we(mainly me; father) is or was touching the kids or teaching them inappropriately. Plus a lot of questions from the dcfs/intact service about why we don’t go to any church or religious organization and their chairties(some require attendance for benefits)
We used #3. They called dcfs in response. It’s been a shit show of them trying to get our kids from us. Because we are allowing litter boxes in schools. According to them. This was used against us at a family wedding a year ago and then again after dcfs was called by dcfs as the claim against us. Still somehow founded a case against us based on our landlord not fixing our place. So right now dcfs is telling us they want us to pick family members who can take them. Fuck me right.

Rural Midwest. The states run their own dcfs or cps departments. Each has federal policy but most are dictated by state or county for things. Before it was you can’t be punished for not moving up housing wise. Kids born into a place and attempts made to get out and you get assistance. That’s where we are in this process. But my wife makes too much for more assistance($17/hr part time. 3 above minimum I think for the state).
I can barely talk to my neighbors. Lawyers have been the worst. I get the worse thing is a no. But it’s really hard to have that level of hope that it’s worth it to trying after all the pleading during angry texts, visits, phone calls from dcfs. One of her family members showed up on Xmas eve at our place to “talk” to us and it ended with near violence against my wife. I’m so scared I can’t even call the cops because of these people(some are family).
