Taking your premise that everyone has essentially the same playing field IQ-wise and only obvious genetic defects affect IQ, doesn’t calling someone 'low IQ' amount to mocking people either for a disability (by your framing) or for their upbringing?My original intent, clearly poorly phrased earlier, was to refrain from using 'low IQ' as an argument in any context, because I see it as something that isn’t a person’s fault
I appreciate your points, especially about environmental factors and the historical misuse of IQ tests. That context matters. Just to clarify: IQ is shaped by both genes and environment. It's not either/or. My bigger point was about the ethics of mocking people for perceived intelligence. Even if anti-vaxx views seem irrational, calling people 'low IQ' often does more harm than good
