It isn't good enough to just support the status quo, "middle ground" republicans and most democrats utilize people like Trump as a boogeyman to point at as a "see, we're the good guys and these are clearly bad guys" while never actually working to undo any of the damage that their scapegoats cause because solving the problem would move people towards a more progressive mindset of solving other problems, leading towards a shift in US politics from the right towards the left.
If it can be fixed it is worth fixing.
