Worked at a FedUp facility loading packages into the delivery trucks, and same shit. I started telling everyone I knew to learn to pack their stuff as if it’s going to be hurled off the peak of Mt Everest, cause the higher ups don’t care if your stuff ends up as a loss statistic.

This is the sort of stuff that I feel a lot of people don’t understand is perfectly normal and healthy the majority of the time. Couples don’t always *need* to be endlessly involved with each others lives, space is good, and even better is when you can both have some space AND still be in the same room. Having been the extremely codependent spouse, and my partner being slightly less so, it has done wonders for our relationship when we started relying less on each other for literally everything.

Additional notes; I try my best to be a very thoughtful giver, leaning into the quality over quantity mindset, along with having a mix of practical and fun things. Like, I usually buy some very unique nerdy shirts since my significant others love being able to rotate out clothing as things wear out, and I will buy them some sort of fun toy/collectible that greatly pertains to their favorite nerdiness. Keeps the adult and kid mindset nice and happy. :)
I really wish both my close family and inlaws would do this. I end up giving away nearly all the stuff I get gifted during the holidays because almost none of it is remotely thoughtful, it’s just buying cheap crap on Amazon to fill out the Xmas tree, namely mass produced “custom” things that I would happily trade for one handmade item from another artist. (And no, it’s not a matter of they can’t afford it, just not being deeper than surface level thoughtful.) Also I always emphasis cash is good.
If you want just a portion of how awful they are, give a listen to the 6 part series of Behind the Bastards on them. The first two episodes mainly focus on the history of wrestling, as well as Vince’s father, but hooooo boy when they get to Vince, it’s just unbelievably awful.

I went up to the top floor area near the restaurant for a photo shoot at DragonCon 2014 at night, with a lightning storm off in the outskirts of the city. It was awe-inspiring and fucking terrifying, mostly the latter. Haven’t been back since.
