Even those aren't mysteries because the opening scene of season 3 reveals the "mystery" of the rats AND the russians.
Season 3 is an action show. The mystery elements are completely gone from the show sadly.
Mike didn't need Will's support. But just like every other subplot is season 3, all the characters forgot about it by episode 6 anyway.
