Actually you have a point. It's like lighting a cigar with a $100 bill. Maybe he knows it's wrong but it's a power move.

Yes? Maybe? He's a smart guy who sends to double down when he can't admit he made a mistake, so still kind of douchey.
He's a big troll. He does it on purpose because so many people assume the worst about him. He's like a pro wrestling heel.

No, it was used to treat toxoplasmosis in patients who also had immune deficiency.
Insurance covered most patients and his company would pay for the drug for anyone without insurance.
The disease was becoming resistant to the drug so he increased the price in order to fund better research.
Article needs to check its facts. It was not AIDS medication, it was medication for a different disease (toxoplasmosis).
