Finally had to stop lurking vicariously through stlkrieg's account. Goddammit people.
And we have the audacity to look passably able. Shame on us for not be outwardly disabled enough and making it easy for others to know us
Nothing at all really. Just a continued pissing contest
But yes the idea that being emotional or nurturing is feminine and therefore bad is what got us here.
No not blaming them at all. Not being able to be viewed in those rolls or show emotion etc is just as harmful to men.
didn't realize HOW weird our keep your distance culture was til I went abroad to teach...was told they thought I was "cold" for not hugging
To be fair it's that on top of the new parents/student dynamic. There's no trust or respect at all
We're told not to yes, but nobody automatically suspects we have any illicit motive for being a teacher or wanting to work with children
More like men not wanted to be seen as feminine or nurturing soooo still kinda hatred of feminism. Toxic masculinity ruins the party again.
Did you miss the sarcasm dripping from that comment or just slip and hit your head real hard?
Yes! He's helped me through so much. You should tweet this at him or email him somehow. You'd probably make his day.
@op you're not a salty dog are you???
Every single time
I ALSO HAVE THAT SHIRT!!!! Congrats on the accomplishment fellow frank fan
^this. She was his race guide and carried his flag the whole way
The woman was his race guide, he carried her over in celebration. Hate that the headlines reduced her to some random chick.
Plot twist: nothing was wrong: that was his designated race guide. He carried her over the line since she "carried" him through the race
Supposed to be? Dude it is...
Unless the weekly hooch crawl counts as serious shit
To be fair NK is throwing a fit but they throw one every time there's training or "showing off". It's a pissing contest
Things at our particular place are about as relaxed as things here could be haha
No they're right. It's training season. This shit happens every year. We're over here rolling our eyes at the "news" and trumped up reports
But they're not really escalating. This shit happens every year around training times. It's not new or really worrisome at all.
Do you know how many foreigners are over here? not just military. Korea has one of the highest foreign teacher and contractor populations
If I had a nickel for every spouse asking me if they're evacuating soon or if they shouldn't come after all... NCS all the way
Not so much. It's annual training by the joint ROK forces. The news is really twisting a lot of normal stuff as signs we're gearing up
I'm there teaching (to get around the whole non command sponsored thing) and it's exactly this. We're all learning about it from US "news"
I do not understand why this doesn't have more points
Right? And yet it happens all the time lol though general people saying that are also super selfish, so there are other red flags.
Im/were on a base too! So I totally understand that situation. Makes it harder. I just know if I see "unicorn" it's often a hard pass
