I have a similar experience from the afab perspective. Very few people know. Since I'm a se*ual assault survivor, when I disclosed that relationship with my gender, medical personel used it to try to get me a personnality disorder diagnosis instead of the PTSD my psychiatrist confirmed. It can be a hard line to walk, but it's pretty great to know that other people have similar identities and experiences.
Hi, Canadian here. When I had to get sick leave for 2 years, my job helped me contact provincial services who paid for my leave. When I got better, my job reintegrated me progressively, a few days a week, and the same governmental instances kept paying the off days until I was fully back.This is how a society affords extended paid sick leave; it does not depend on the capacity of the employer to pay their sick employees directly.
