"S̶o̶l̶d̶i̶e̶r̶s̶" - Warriors is a better term. Living in small communities meant you had to know certain things. But it wasn't the norm.

As in knights from Europe? - Not, that I know of. I've been studying medieval archaeology and haven't come across any.

I'm fairly agnostic about Nuclear energy - for some areas of the world it makes sense. But some places have plenty of renewables.
It'll take decades to fully implement thorium.We don't have decades - and even if we do manage it; thorium still won't solve our problem.
