Doctor here - yes to antibiotics ASAP. Most docs will prescribe over the phone if symptoms are convincing. Best prevention is vit C 1000 mg
Yeah I (normally super polite) once had a poop so big in hospital I cried and begged the nurses to be knocked out...
I had to collect 24 hour urine for a medical test. I learned that my estimations were wildly inaccurate.
Was in hospital getting weighed daily. Biggest poop of life (literally involved screaming, crying and meds). Down 2 pounds...
Doctor here: honestly, the people who ask for help are the strongest. Please be strong enough to use our resources.
How did it take a quarantine for someone to realize they hate pants?? I’d much rather wear a mask than pants!!

You do speeches about anything you want and I’ve found a lot of enjoyment in sharing my interests! Plus it HAS helped with work :)

If a fam member tells me they want frequent updates and they’re not rude, I’ll call often, to the point that I often know their # by heart
or you will get a resident who doesn’t know your Mom and doesn’t have any time. Call first thing in the morning to get someone who knows her
Also, you can always call the nurse for updates, including asking them for a doctor to call with updates. But don’t do this later in the day
Yes! As a resident who does palliative care, we always try to let family in if there’s a decline and we expect less than 72 hours of life.
Totally agree! 29 yo doctor here - it happens with superiors and I just say “I’m sorry I’m emotional - it’s because I care.”
It bothers me that we never find out who wins!
