I had a nightmare that went something like this…
We. Don’t. It’s. Toronto.
This is in my neighbourhood, closer than I care to specify. But I know this house. I know these raccoons. Raccoons are everywhere in Toronto. This day was extremely cold and this racoon family was trying to keep warm. They’re crafty lil cuties but rarely this brazen in daylight. It was -30C and windy af. Normally they sleep on roofs and in the trees until nightfall.
Always had good experiences with them too
I’ve struggled all my life with my mental health and know how discouraging it is to finally work up the strength to seek help and meet so much resistance. Keep fighting. You deserve happiness. You deserve the help you’re seeking. I hope you can find that help soon, and can start feeling more joy again. ❤️
My mum is a therapist- many work for themselves and have trouble responding to everyone, especially if they’re already full. If your wife found one, that’s great. She should ask her therapist for help finding you one. Therapists usually know other therapists looking for clients.Another great way - figure out which school is certifying psychotherapists in your region. Ask if they have any new therapists looking for clients. They will be cheaper, and supervised by a more experienced therapist.

I was certain Trump had dementia after the whole oranges/origins thing. When my dad’s problems first started, that was one of the big things. Mixing words. You had to decode what he meant eventually. It will get worse, and fast. Within a year, every sentence my dad spoke would come out as gibberish (“purple monkey dishwasher” type stuff). Then no words at all. I’d bet money there will soon come a day where he’s rushed off stage by a staffer mid-speech. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

Some of my favourite games are or started as smaller indie games. It’s scary and won’t be easy (I also have ADHD - inattentive and hyperactive). But that presents you with strengths, not just challenges. Your imagination, if it’s anything like mine, is probably exploding with ideas all the time. Good luck on your journey to bring some to life- I can’t wait to see what you make!
Many churches in my city also keep grocery and pharmacy gift cards on hand if people come looking for help. Some churches do still take the “love thy neighbour” thing seriously.
My city banned plastic bags, so I’m bringing my excess reusable bags because people rarely donate anything to carry the food home with. Emailed them first to check it was needed and they say HECK yes
His instinct was probably “fuck, that’s a shark”, and he wasn’t gonna hang around to find out. I would love to swim with manatees but at a glance I’m sure that dark blob in the water is terrifying up close.
Oof I totally can relate. After a decade working in the corporate world with nothing to show but trauma, debt, and stagnating wages- I got fired for no reason during Covid. I said “fuck it” and started working as a consultant for non profits. Now I get to use my powers for good, but I’m still just as frustrated. Now I spend every day facing the realities of what capitalism and greed has done to the most vulnerable among us. Makes me want to scream sometimes. This is end-stage capitalism.
This is clearly a partisan cover up. The deep state at work again. If Trump was still president the fire would have destroyed the entire state of Hawaii to punish Obama for his crimes.
Ironically, these types of tools are flaunted as a way to address racial profiling, because how could AI be racist? (Answer: if it’s made and used by groups who are already inherently racist.) The real issue is they’ll dump millions into acquiring AI profiling tech but will bitch about how expensive it would be for them to overhaul training and recruitment of officers. Then they load their budget recruits into state of the art tanks and wonder why people hate them en masse.
People will see what they want and expect to see
This is probably my favourite thing about children. They have almost no instinct to judge people and excessive curiosity, which means they accept simple things like “I have 2 uncles and they love each other” at face value. It’s sad when that goes away.
I think I like Pootin better than my previous fave nickname- RatPutin
I’d love to see my city put greenery on every surface possible. Every year, the air quality gets worse.
We’ve had one across the street from my apartment for years. Always full, always different books, and people stop to check it daily.
They could call… I dunno… the FBI? He might as well have robbed the MET. Did he just take any priceless thing that wasn’t nailed down? Has an inventory been fully completed? Unreal.
