I think he is saying that both sides has elements commiting atrocities. All Israelis aren't their military and all Palestinians aren't Hamas militants shooting children.The big problem here is both sides has ppl with a vested interest in continuing this. If Israel pulls back then Hamas will eventually strike again. If Hamas pulls back israel will hunt and kill as many of them as possible hitting civilian casualties. The mutual hate assures us both will not stop hostilities indefinitely.
