I was raised to question everything, and to question it twice as hard if I want to agree with it, especially if people around me tell me I should agree without all the details. This sometimes comes off as argumentative and difficult, but it’s really to consider all the possibilities, perspectives, and facts to understand things. Yeah, I am still occasioanlly wrong, but this “question everything” skill is also why I’ve been good at what I do. I’ve been an auto mechanic to working in NASCAR pit crews, restored classic cars and built engines, been a certified forklift driver, and today work in IT working on both hardware and software. And yes, I still do all my own work on my cars, including modifying software and parts upgrades to make it work and feel the way I want it to be. I wish more people questioned what they are and hear lately before jumping on certain things. Anyway… I come from a history of unsung heroes. Those people where you don’t know their names but you use things they came up with or changed to make your life easier in some way. It could be big, it could be small, and it could be a tool or device in your house with a feature you didn’t know was there, or a subtle but helpful feature added to something that’s been around for ages. It could be physical pr code, but the things we have done are out there and you’ve probably seen or used some of them. And my tip for you (not mine, but thanks to the unsung hero behind it!) : When you’re at gas stations with those pumps that play ads? Press the 2nd button down on the right side of the screen to mute. Enjoy!

Time to make some rubber stamps… and some comments give good suggestions…

I was in high school and dad worked in an auto shop. The entire gang there smoked. I set up a garbage barrel just to collect their empty packs. Anywhere from 5 to 12 people in the shop during the day, most were 2pack/day types, they added up fast. Had pretty much everything in the catalogs three times over. Still have my Stetson hat from when the miles thing was winding down.

When I was 24, I went out with a girl who was 19. She and I didn't click, but me and her mom? That's another story. Ever since then, I have favored women 5 to 15 years older than my own age, and still do, even in my 50s. Don't knock it til you try it, you might find you like it. :)

I can’t remember if it was Carol Burnett’s book or Tim Conway’s book, but somewhere in those it was noted Tim’s goal was to make the others break character, especially Korman.., it makes watching CB reruns more entertaining to see them all trying to not lose it in skits with Conway

Anyone know where we can get digital copies of the entire run? I have been looking for a specific short story that was in one of them.. and re-reading the Continuum stuff is always entertaining

This is SOP where I work. They stress that if you are knocked out, they can use your fingerprints and face to log on to devices if you set it up. Always have it require a PIN, and REFUSE to give it. And when traveling, always take a cheap dumb phone, and if you have more than one phone, never carry them together. Ever. They can track both moving together and they get linked.

It amazes me how they go full-cult-conservative, yet their own history, even in cases where they wrote or directed their own shows/movies, they were all about equality, fairness, and humanity to audiences.

The original BK Broiler from Burger King with an original-era Snapple Sweet Tea, and the waitress at a local spot who liked to flash me.... Wonder where she is now...

I still use my Zune HD. Sucks MS was always too little, too late, and too uncoordinated to make it successful.

Best advice I got in 1995 from a financial advisor: When a Democrat is in office, invest in infrastructure and healthcare. When a Republican is in office, invest in the military complex and fossil fuels. And following that alone... I can only say... I am on track to retire a bit early.

I think of Chuck Shepherd's News Of The Weird with the segments of how the name fits the career/crime. Like Robert Banks.... yep, a bank robber. D. Richard (Dick) CHopp - vasectomy surgeon, Willi Stroker - guess what he got arrested for... Or Usman Butt - for biting someone on the ass, Crystal Metheny for.. yep...

This is why I try to educate people: Put all of your assets in accounts with beneficiaries - they go *poof* before wills/probate ever kicks in. Don't tell family... it makes sure the scumbags don't get away with highway robbery from your estate after you're gone.

I live in a podunk town that has a McDs, Little Caesars, Subway and a Taco Bell. Thats it. All of them are about 2.5 miles away from me. Its worth the extra 5 miles to get anything else burger or chicken sandwich wise. Wendy's, Hardee's, Burger King, even Arby's in the next town over.

As with anyone who has a declining reputation, stop trying to suppress the critics and instead listen to them to know how you can actually become better.

It’s funny watching Home Improvement again… and seeing how Tim Taylor the character, often guided by Wilson, was more morally decent in the end than Tim Allen is in real life. It’s like his Shitty Shatner moment (Shatner denying ST was what they say is woke today).

"Messenger.com won't be available after April 14, 2026 but you can continue your conversations on the mobile app and on Facebook." - I use messenger alone for a few people. Fuck going back to full facebook. its just forcing everyone into the bullshit forum it has become.
