ignore these kind of comments, there's always room to judge what others are doing. I don't think the point of this video was "how to make the strongest curved joint ever", it was to inspire creativity, educate others on possible ways to approach problems and to inspire people to get out of their chair and make something. And for the record, you're 100% correct, these type of cross-grain intersects are often unavoidable and as a minimum, surprisingly common (without unexpected failures).
