Honestly, the amount of work that went into compiling this was probably a more effective method of studying than most types of homework.

Unofficial signs of it: Destroying any and all cultural heritage, blocking or removing social gathering areas for the relevant culture, Actively preventing any transfer of cultural knowledge through forced (limited) education (Christianity in the past 2 centuries was big on that one, see Australia and NZ), and various other things.

In a sane world he'd be stuffed deep in a jail cell by now, but rich people don't experience consequences.

Carpenter's pencils are great, they're also very durable.

yeah, thinking back the graphing paper is probs a bad example, I'm not an engineer for a reason. You get my point though, right? I definitely agree with needing to be ABLE to use stuff without digital aids, simply to demonstrate understanding, but in a counterpoint tests are now generally designed with the presence of a calculator in mind, and having one sure as hell didn't help me when I failed to navigate my way through early uni-level trigonometry (or perhaps just upper highschool tbh XD)

And that, kids, is how you begin to develop proprioception.

Ok but did you walk around with an abacus in your pocket? (jkjk)
I was in highschool in the "you won't have a calculator in your pocket every day" generation of teachers. Boy, did that age well....

I get it to an extent, especially with graphical calculators and such, but such things need to adapt to the reality of the industry as well. (almost) nobody uses graphing paper or logarithmic rulers anymore for a reason, though the latter especially would remain useful if electronics ever fail.

Ok but I hope the squares on that chicken wire are smaller than they look, because if the holes are too large, chicken wire is really only a suggestion to a rabbit. My first 2 pets was a pair of albino rabbits, both of which weren't all the way domesticated (especially the female, she was half-blind and had been born by accident when a pair believed to be 2 girls dug themselves a hidden den), and gnawed their way through our first chicken wire in no time.

... So, you have to show ID to install Windows? Or what am I misunderstanding here? Cause I didn't have to verify anything to install W10, so that must have been a recent development with 11 or smt

When I was member of a debate club, that was one of the things they addressed, as the ultimate 'emotional appeal'. After it was used a few times during a debate I was mostly immune to the effect on me, but countering it is somewhat hard, you have to attack the actual execution of their plans.

Wow, I wish them lots and lots of luck enforcing that on Linux. They'll have Microsoft and Apple force it through ofc, but at absolute best they can force Linux back down a level of visibility.

Absolutely, I understand getting around the US without flying sucks major ass, which is probably deliberate on the part of said billionaires, but right now it has a much higher chance of actually arriving at your destination. If you're even the slightest bit likely to be targeted by bigots for any reason, don't fly, the hard way is likely much safer. If you can reach your destination by car without rotting behind the wheel, don't fly.

So, as the one that gets the meme but not the medical reference, can anyone explain? Or is it something that's rather more private to women than such issues normally already are?

Yep, physical security in places that don't have a dedicated security service is just as bad as most places' cybersecurity. I mean, I was technically hired as a web dev, but the PC I work on is one I don't have admin access for. Mind you, I have every type of access to the entire web server except direct SSH, I could delete every website and probably most internal systems on a whim, but the ability to install python on my own work PC so I can make custom data processing stuff is denied me.

#1 ok but why bother when you can buy it for a very reasonable price? Or are bottles $20+ where you are?

I should probs get mine updated soon, yes. It's practically non-existent in my area of Europe but why take the risk?

You mean the way they received high level bodyguard training before being taken to the Olympics in Italy as the Turd's "bodyguard"? I mean, that was the most obvious "They're my personal brownshirts" flex I've ever seen.

Tickets usually cost less than the fuel you'd burn trying to navigate a car-based city hellscape, nevermind inner-city parking being orders of magnitude more. Oh, some cities still have major road veins going around 'old' cities and through places like financial districts, but few of them have something worse than a 'ring' highway, which goes above the outer parts of a city with exits at various points. Even the most traffic-jam infested versions would still be preferable.

to translate: why the fuck would we WANT to 'comprehend' that shit?

Most of our city planning peeps have long since learned the value of keeping as many cars as possible out of city centers. The concept of "park & ride" means you park at or outside city limits and take a shuttle bus into the city, usually goes directly to the main train station with maybe a stop or two at intermediate connection points (for big cities or routes past major locations) every 15 mins or so.

yep, if you actually pay attention to her facial expression. At first glance, which is all that such images get from an alarming amount of people, it looks like a frown of distress rather than relief, simply because of the physical posture. Fine details don't enter into it until you focus on the face of the actual woman.

First Mötorhead song I found, though "God was never on your side" remains my favorite. Shame I'm too young to have ever seen them live though.

You laugh, but the problem is that the phonetic alphabet changes PER LANGUAGE. As I've discovered trying to speak German.

Also, despite being fully fluent in 2 languages and comfortably into B2 level in German as well, I don't know the full phonetic alphabet for a single one of them. Or even half.

And now I'm thinking of a system for libraries and/or book shops that works similarly, or at minimum a reading recommendation website of some sort. Anyone know if such exists? If not, that seems like a nice long term project to build my minimal programming skills towards.

#9 the issue is that many people don't know exactly what they're getting into before they've gotten invested. It's one of the reasons I adore the way AO3 works, because their tag system if used decently by the creator lets me read the approximate mood of the story before committing, and I can search for specific tags and exclude others.

The idea that a felony conviction permanently loses you the right to vote has always disturbed me. If felony charges was for things like first degree murder or rape or the type of truly society-disturbing crimes that tend to risk life sentences that was one thing. But paired with some of the shit the US considers a felony it's basically just another way to suppress entire groups of people.

Worst part is that it's almost always adult men that seem to do so, rather than similarly-aged boys. Which would still be creepy, but orders of magnitude less so.

Ah, if only we actually got paid, I would've likely been able to pay for college out of almost out of pocket (European prices). Would've gathered about $600 per year, which isn't THAT much, but if you bike 15 miles per day 200 days per year for 11 years, it starts to add up.

Especially not compared to the war. Besides, if they change their mind, all they need to do is bribe the right official and they'd be welcome back.

Highly toxic, as opposed to the healthy, biodegradable waste from processing oil, or the stuff that is now filtered out of the smoke of burning coal in most sane nations, meaning that unlike my mother, I have never experienced true "Acid rain" in my lifetime?
