Why have context when you can get pissed instead?
Just had this argument with someone doing the whole "the human sacrifices will stop" thing. They definitely justified it with scripture. Inaccurate scripture, but still

Science is the exploration of the natural world, and religion is cultural expression. Both are good and necessary. Both can be abused. If religion gives us motivation to kill each other, science gives us the means

The point is even if you stop people diagnosed with a mental illness from buying guns, you would still have mentally ill people shooting others with guns because someone could be mentally sound, buy a gun, THEN become mentally ill. Remember that the Texas case had ZERO standing in order to sue in the first place. NONE of this should have ever happened, let alone gone to the Supreme Court

Then he kept insisting on the "horrible violence" of the Chicago "riots" last weekend when a bunch of groups of black teenagers went to Millennium Park and some teens mugged a guy and broke a few car windows
Nixon and the war on drugs were big but "Government is the problem" Reagan meant the collapse of many mid 20th century regulations and social attitudes shifting away from public service and communal thinking
