It's better for dogs who have kennel aggression or fear. Some dogs try to fight through the doors when walking by even if they're friendly.

Also, if they have something they are not supposed to have, they won't bite you while trying to take it away.
We randomly drop more food or treats in their food and they learn that they don't have to fight to keep their food to themselves.
We do this to dogs in my training program to show them that humans touching their food doesn't necessarily mean something bad.
