Look it up.

This is simply not true, imo. Can you identify anyone who is pro Democrat positions on social services but anti their position on Israel/Gaza? Can you identify anyone pro GOP positions on immigration but anti their position on abortion? Can you identify anyone supportive of both parties’ position on financial conflicts of interest for Congressional members? Preferential voting allows ppl to meaningfully promote specific policies that major parties must consider if they want those preferences.

Correct, my bad.

Long bow to draw there. Made no comment of my own personal opinion of the conflict. Poster asked for a summary of the context and I gave it. Fwiw, I’m not interested in editorialising or injecting emotional opinion into a simple objective narration. Plenty feel they need their news to tell them the correct moral stance but they can get that from following up on the story themselves, if they’re so inclined.

“Targeted by Israeli agents with no regard for collateral damage” is about as NPOV a way as I can use to concisely describe the events. Sorry I wasn’t able to immediately satisfy your need to virtue signal your superior morality.

Historically, the KKK took root in the southern states that were dominated by the Southern Democrats, an explicitly racist and segregationist arm of the Democrats. The rise of the Civil Rights movement during the 20th century forced a major split in the party and the majority of the former Southern Democrats found a new, welcoming home in the GOP.

“Hey, I’ve got Black friend, totally support BLM but just gotta say, this guy here acts like such a Black guy. Do you think he might be a bit Black? I hope not for his sake.”

Is an analogue of your comment. So in your case, why did you feel you just gotta say?

Pro-Israeli policy talking head was referencing the targeted killing of Hamas militants by use of phone pager/beepers modified into bombs. He inferred the Pro-Palestinian talking head was A) pro-Hamas B) a valid target of such an assassination attempt and C) deserved to die.

Most people don’t. They just hear the words and are conditioned to associate them with unspeakable evil, or have only the most cursory sense of what they mean. That Trump checks off every single box that defines a fascist autocrat and that Harris barely registers as any form of socialist is not of interest to them and means nothing. All they take away from it is that they are being called names.

I know you’re nowhere near twonty…

There’s gross for the sake of shock, there’s gross for the sake of sleaze, and sometimes there’s unintentionally gross that thinks it’s romantic or profound. Ew to the third.

Legitimately some of the most viscerally gross lyrics in popular music, with possible competition from Hinder’s awful song about how “I miss your hair in my face and the way your innocence tastes”

What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did it get so high? I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy…

That sounds like a you issue. People can have as nuanced or as straightforward a rationale for their opinion of a person as they want, and if they don't want to get into the weeds on it, that's their business. You can make your own assumptions about it but you're not entitled to a full explanation to satisfy your own preconceptions.

Ideally, yes. However, short of major popular upheaval, the framework for enacting this kind of change requires the cooperation of both major parties’ elected representatives and neither have a vested interest in doing so. It is actually far more advantageous for them to maintain the two party system. Even preferential voting is a threat to them so they try to repress it.

In a political system with effectively only two options for president, it is not a requirement to like either of them. You can decide based on who you believe would do the less harm, or on who you believe has more desirable policies but you do not have to like them. In fact, I would suggest that the default attitude towards any politician should be suspicion. Don’t idolise them. Make them do the job they were elected for and hold them accountable.

It does seem like your original ironic intent was not appreciated by a lot of people, but this being the internet, that’s mostly on you. On face, there was not enough in what you wrote to suggest that you weren’t being sincere. Prime example of Poe’s Law.
