This, of course, varies by region, but legally speaking, to be a serve safe certified server, you have to monitor people's alcohol intake to prevent over serving. And also to have a consistent amount versus price. No owner wants their employees free pouring liquor in random amounts

I agree with this whole heartedly with one exception: I do think crime in itself is not a warrant to shot someone, if you break into my home or try to steal my car while I am in it, you have decided that my property is more valuable than your life. I do NOT know how dangerous you are in that situation, and no rational person would put another human in that situation.
