And I can't help but feel like Kvothe is him projecting. Whenever Kvothe has a problem, it's solved by some outlandish piece of knowledge...
His female characters are all the same person with different flavored sprinkles and I feel like his pacing needs lots of work.
I'm ready to be skewered for this, but while Patrick Rothfuss has amazing prose, he's heavily overrated as a storyteller.
I found The Codex Alera to be cringingly predictable and couldn't really like Tavi. Is Dresden any better?
On the same token, I think Rothfuss is good, but massively overrated. So /shrug.
I had trouble getting into the Liveship Trader series, the writing just felt...not good. I haven't revisited her as an author
I tried reading Hobb's Liveship Traders series a while back and it just didn't capture me. Did I start in the wrong place?
Rose colored glasses / positive fading. Things are rarely as fantastical as we remember them.
