That show bait and switches its themes, has a rubbish ending, and flopped so heavily that the sequel AND dvd releases were canceled...
Not really, you'd have missed 32 episodes and a lot of character/plot developments and introductions.
Prison school is purely fetish fanservice, it's not exactly a recommendation you inflict on random people without knowing their preferences.
You probably don't like the parts with Ougi in it, they focus on other characters fairly soon.
Now now, there's no need to argue. The obvious compromise here is that they were both shit
Mushishi is most definately not underrated

shouldn't suffer at all from only a partial adaption (aka there's not gonna be cliff hangers or loose ends)
There's more source material, but no confirmed second season yet. OPM is mostly ~3 ep story arcs though, so enjoyment of the series
