My thoughs are divided in this topic. If i think musician as a profession, you should really get decent salary if your music is listened by consumers. But the idea, that after one or two hit songs/records, you should be able to live forever with your roayalties is not viable and is selfish world view. It is still a job, even though it involves creativity - there are lot of creators in this world that cannot even start to think this way - like painters - there are no royalties in paintings...
