Here's the thing: if you're not a rich white male Christian bigot in their group then NO ONE will take care of you. These are the people who are using Project 2025 to take away all social safety programs and worker's rights. They either want people in work camps or prisons (same thing to them). If you can't work or serve them then you can die. They don't care.

So they lose money on this, take their time shutting it down, claim the "losses" against their profits over the next few years, and avoid paying taxes.

Thanks for sharing this. I watch anime and it is always interesting how much of it developed from very real things/people. I mean, I know most media works that way but something as deep as this is awesome in its own right.

Here's a possibility: someone in Trump's group thought that if they went to war in Iran without the SOR then oil prices would rise and American companies would start drilling and raising production. Then all the people with oil stocks would get richer. They went with: shorten supply, drive profits higher, force increased production, profit from higher prices.

My hometown was home to several large oil companies but almost all of them have been swallowed up by the larger corporations. There are still oil jobs but most of the drilling and field work has moved further south and east of us. If it wasn't for the refinery on the edge of town the industry would be pretty much gone and several towns around here with it.
I worked on a drilling rig for about a year. Dirty job where only hard work is respected and any actual humanity was ridiculed. It was for many decades one of the most sought-after jobs someone in this area (Southeastern New Mexico) could have.
