It takes you two minutes and they pay minimum wage. If you got paid for the amount of time you used the self checkout, it'd be the equivalent of a 2% discount on your groceries. If you had that as a coupon you'd leave it at home.
If you made petrochemical companies pay for the clean up as well, this would be an overnight success. Forever chemicals and plastics would become wildly expensive and only worth using if there are absolutely no other ways to do it. The biggest competitor to this would be something like corrugated cardboard, which would likely be more expensive due to it having wider industrial applications.
Seven day lead time isn't really an issue. If you're shipping enough items in bulk that molded styrofoam is worth it over other packaging materials, you have enough time to get the logistics in place for magic mushroom packaging. It's not going to be ideal for drop shipping, but for that you use cardboard anyways.
It's likely that this won't be a 1:1 replacement for styrofoam, but rather one of many replacements as we move away from it. This is fine for domestic shipping, which is a major source of microplastics.

Dunno, but he hit one of my personal peeves. AI doesn't have to be trained on child porn to create it, it just needs to know how to draw children and porn. And we have a lot of images of both. You've probably never seen an elephant in a pink tutu, but you can imagine one because you've seen elephants and pink tutus. AI works (roughly) the same way. I fully buy that Elon is a pedophile, but all AI art programs can make CSAM - they understand C and SAM.

They kept sliding things underneath him. From that height it was safe to fall if you land correctly, which would involve landing directly on your feet and crumpling to reduce impact. You can't do that if you fall on a chair that immediately dumps you sideways.

True, but this could be useful for non shooting incidents too. The only lockdown I had in school was an angry parent (ugly divorce) trying to get his kid from school. He wasn't armed, but he was belligerent and they feared he might become violent. Being able to drop a spike and lock the door down could be useful for any other reason you need to restrict access.
I think he was at a stoplight that just turned green. The car that passed on his right kept going, but the bus to his left was stopped. The bus wouldn't let off kids from the left hand lane in the US (and his wheel is on the left side of the car, indicating this is the US), but if the bus was stopped that suggests he had a reason to be as well and didn't just park on the highway to eat.
While some of these behaviors are anthropomorphized, these behaviors do show love. Dogs don't "smile", for example, but they do have a relaxed facial expression and body language that means the same thing.
They're rare, but not unheard of. 1/5 of orange cats are female. Four orange females would be a 1/625 chance (for a litter of four) which is actually super common given how many litters of kittens are born every day.
Pretty sure Cap can just... beat up Magneto.
20% of orange cats are female. They're uncommon, but hardly rare.
Cats and dogs have to put up with a lot of our irrational behaviors. Best to get them used to it young.
We had a collie who would do that. She liked to lie on her back, but she had trouble breathing after a while and would flip over.
The thing is, both Rohan and Gondor were building up for war just as fast as Mordor. Sauron almost managed it by driving Denethor to madness and Theoden to despair, but once Theoden recovers and Gandalf takes control of the defenses at Gondor he's pretty much on the back foot. The running theme seems to be that evil can only win when good's generals refuse to take the field.
There are a few exceptions to this though. There are some like amanita IIRC that will seem fine for a while, then you die in absolute agony. That's probably what killed Brian...
Yeah, I don't think he's faking the injury. He may not be seriously injured, but that pain looks real.

The problem is that many of the homeless are not the kinds of people you would want to spend time around. That isn't to dehumanize them, far from it, but rather... maybe instead of complaining that we aren't turning libraries into housing for the homeless, we should consider actually allocating homes for the homeless.
