Not really. There's lots of nods in 3 to 1/2 and Bloodborne, but you don't need to play them.
Start with 3. You don't need to play the other two to understand the lore (though there's nods in 3 to 1/2) and mechanics are much smoother.

He gets back home after a job where his hand got chopped off (grows back slowly and is baby sized at the time), walks around in crocs 1/2
