Just woke up to this and what a way to start the day. LOL.
#4 Back in about 1970, my 10yo brother went to a school fancy dress night as, I shit you not, a packet of cigarettes. Benson and Hedges to be precise. I (6yo) was a Chinaman. We aren’t Chinese. It was incredibly racist but that was the time. I know better now. I still cringe at the photos.
I’ve had a pet Joey. Trust me you don’t need the suit. We just hung a cut off pants leg from the door knob. Straight in every time.

My brother and I went and saw it at the Drive-in. Halfway through he said, ‘I hope everyone else is enjoying this or else we are seriously embarrassing ourselves here.’
Yeah that was my thought as I handed in my notice after 15 years.
As my boss said to our accountant, ‘They’re employees, we don’t owe them anything’.

FWIW she spent 4 weeks in Tx earlier this year and said it’s no better.
Nowhere did I say it was an homogenous view of the populace. However, for a tiny view, my brother’s partner is a 60y/o Texan who has lived in Australia for the past 35 years. She was raised white and bigoted. She is the now the least racist person I know and is embarrassed by the rest of her family still in Austin. I made the ‘deluded’ comment to her a while back and she agreed. So, my view is not totally based on social media, but I get where you’re coming from.
