Long time ago, I discovered I could solve pretty much at a glance anything my theory of computation prof would throw at me. After Covid that brain path is gone, but back then I passed the class by getting in a room with the professor and her TA and solving anything she could come up with on the fly (they thought I memorized the answer book...); after almost two hours of them both inventing and solving problems to check my answers, I got my passing grade. I feel for Cleo...

Some say "do not speak I'll of the dead". I disagree. I say "live so that once you are gone people won't have any I'll to speak of", the responsability for my legacy is mine alone.

My grand-grandfather had a small analysis lab, and my grandmother recall him coming pissed at home one day because "a bloody mold killed all his cultures" and lost him a month or so of income. We ain't sure of the exact date, but it was for sure before penicillin was discovered. Some people see opportunities ("I wonder if it does that in my body as well before it kills me too"), others don't. Who knows how many discoveries are lost to the sand of time because the wrong person witnessed them...

Optimized rendering, like in videogames: if not observed, a computationally cheaper approximation is good enough; if observed, an accurate rendering is necessary. Welcome to the simulation :)

The name of this thing, "limoniamo", is a play on "limone" for the taste and "limonare", which is slang for "making out"...

I genuinely wonder when will Americans start hammering up their guillotines. It's long overdue.

The original caffettiera yes, this is a Bialetti, one of the oldest Italian brands (although they're letting it brew waaay too long...)
