But only literally. I was recently forklift certified and my trainers would tear him (or her, we don't discriminate) a new one for not lowering the load.

It is more cynical than painting it as bad thing.

Then the irony sets in that we cannot build environmentally friendly batteries on our own, because helping the environ in one aspect will hurt it in another.

As a german: ahahaha this will never be mined.

Theyre gonna find Hamsters or some beetles or rare lizards and it will get so expensive to mine that we will still import from elsewhere. Mark my words.

While I agree with you, I am wondering what happened to the "they're on the bottom end of the prison's food chain" sentiment.

I always found the thought of these creatures getting tormented in prison better than giving them the easy way out.

Celsius can be converted to Kelvin by simple subtraction for absolute temperatures and needs no conversion at all for differences.
And Kelvin is the unit that is used to calculate all the other Units, for example in heat capacities, and so on.
My physics professor once told us that the US uses 2 different units for pressure und converts between them by using the SI units.
No need for that by using the SI units in the first place.

Then replace it with a modern switching power supply. Did that with quite a few old devices where the cable was broken anyway. It's not not hard, can be a nice winter weekend project (depending on the scope) and shouldn't be too expensive.

Hey... same here. For both.
Also: that makes hiding snacks or presents easy.

You are technically correct. The best kind of correct.

Although I do no longer use that since I switched my home to professional networking equipment (Juniper).

Still better than Windows 8, though.

I wish game devs would support linux more, though.

I am using dual boot for over a decade now with varying flavors of Linux (mint, ubuntu mate, debian) and am very happy overall but the number of things breaking is unreal.

For example the UI in roll20 is completely broken until you install windows fonts. And thats a web site. How the hell is this even possible? These thing sure as hell run on Linux.

I had friend who wanted nothing for their birthday.
They got a sealed off glass tube with a vacuum in it from me. Quite literally nothing.
We had a good laugh and that glass tube sits on their shelf for almost 2 decades now.

The scary part for me is, that my first response would be to go to the Civil protection agency where I volunteer (German federal agency for technical relief) because I sure as hell will be deployed for search and rescue within minutes.
You go where others are running from. That is scary once you allow that thought.

At least in german "600 $" would be correct. We also write "600 €" instead of "€600".

I'm not sire about other european non-english languages, though.

Same. Plus, at least where I live, most people who run around with them look, talk and behave like they need some facial corrections by fist.

We have two cats like that. They fight each other over sitting in our laps. Otherwise they get along fine.
Not that there would be two laps to sit on or anything.
Personally i find it hilarious.
