So in the end if there are 2 fighters with a mostly similar skill level and such a mindset the improvised fights become entertaining to see
I always try to give him the option to react in different ways. The better the opponent the more intricate their reaction
Yes - that much is true. Because it IS a show fight. So instead of provoking efficient situations that cannot be countered by my opponent

It is a hobby yes and no we did not train together... I don't even know the name of my opponent ?

All weapons you see there are made of foam and latex. They are less dangerous than wooden sticks ?
