My father was an exhaust manifold and my mother was a tree
Nah, it’s not really because he wont interview, it’s to undermine any obstacle to installing Trump as dictator-for-life.
Usually the best option if you have the know how.
"As AI starts to surpass" implies a linear progression though. Generative AI models will not evolve into AGI. The difference is not in degree but in kind. And true AGI (unless you hair-split definitions) is still many decades away, if not centuries.
I’d prefer the most unskilled art made by a human over generative output. Art isn’t just the finished product, it’s the process and every step, brushstroke, note, every action and decision a person takes to reach that point.
Data is an example of the fictional concept of Artificial General Intelligence, or AGI. He has agency, awareness, and the ability to understand concepts like friendship and morality. The generative models labeled as AI today aren’t AGI. They aren’t self-aware, have no agency, no capacity for abstract thought, no understanding of context, personhood, ethics, physics, anatomy, composition, theme, or any of the millions of decisions and considerations involved in art, writing, music, etc.
Also Starscream in the first Transformers cartoon.
Yeah, wild how a futuristic computer program is portrayed as receiving input commands and searching a database to produce a relevant output. It’s almost as if that technology already existed in 1987.
Most artists are already lower-tax-bracket working class folks, if not experiencing full poverty. This stuff is just going to take away their hope. I agree that solidarity and collective action is key though
Bootlickers every time: "Won’t anyone think of the poor corporations?"
Generative models don’t "learn" the way a human does. They have no concept of context or self awareness or time or causality. They are methods of aggregating and averaging large datasets scraped from nonconsenting creators under academic pretense and transferred to for-profit corporations.Neural networks are constructed in a way that vaguely resembles an incredibly simplified version of neural connections. This does not make them brains. AGI or self-aware ai isn’t possible with current tech.
Asteroids live in a belt, but outside of their habitat the only difference is the smell
I’m not a materials engineer or the person who wrote the thread, but if you’re talking about the Deepsea Challenger, the passenger compartment at the bottom is a steel sphere, while the rest of the body (the green part) is syntactic foam
Thanks, I added an edit since I forgot to link sources
Fixed. Thanks, seriously, I hate it when people don’t credit things and could kick myself for forgetting.

Our Flag Means Death
Well that just sounds like today
It takes a couple episodes to get going. It’s really worth sticking around until Taika shows up as Blackbeard at least, after that it’s gold
Sadly the aesthetic hasn’t really been shown to be backwards compatible; exhibit A being Waterworld
Maybe thematically; but from a practical filmmaking standpoint, George Miller was totally making gritty, gas-soaked modern swashbucklers
Most of them, but particularly the second one, where Max is wearing almost exactly the outfit pictured on the left
Isn’t that the premise of Mad Max?
I have to imagine 3D printers should make Braille printing cheaper, either through making plaques or embossers

The fact that you call it “uni" indicates you didn’t go to school in the capitalist hellhole of the U.S.
