Since your subject has very little color you could try converting it to black and white. Maybe increase the contrast a tad, and crop in on the image to remove the brownish stick in the background.
Every screenshot or conversion to JPG further degrades the image quality. So try to avoid that.
You can add HEIC support to windows with an official Microsoft Plugin that is available in the Microsoft store App. While it is a hassle, HEIC seems to be the better format offering better image quality or smaller files.I am no Apple user myself, I work in printing and have to deal with customers files.
