These are ermines. You can clearly see the black tips on their tails. A (least) weasel would also be significantly smaller than this.

It, somehow, is among the hottest things I've ever seen.

You gotta remember that most of the American (as in, the continent's) fauna was named by scholars and scientists who knew the original European names. There are a bunch that are unique to North America, mostly borrowed from indigenous names, but a great swathe come wholesale from Europe just because the European names are older.

It very much looks like an European robin, the actual robin. The American robin is just a thrush borrowing this robin's name.

That... that was a different Roosevelt.

You need Finnish to be able to find employment in any sector that isn't the games industry or programming. And despite more or less everyone here understands English, you'll be hard-pressed to find any official documents in the language either as English is not considered an official language in the country. So unfortunately for anyone dreaming about a move to Finland, Finnish or Swedish is a must.

If you learn the language. Can't get by with just English, I'm afraid.

Man, I misread the title and was so hopeful. "Vought in Trauma" would be a nice thing to wake up to.

As someone with a lethal gluten allergy, I wanted to scream seeing that. That delicious döner is now out of my reach. :(

In this case, you might honestly prefer the spilling out part.

Probably Europe again, honestly. While Asia might be more seductive, American and European cultures aren't altogether that different and English is relatively widely spoken everywhere in the EU. Also, the EU still has its scientific institutions and funding systems in place and in relatively good condition. Way easier for American scientists to integrate into life in EU than anywhere else on the planet.

Bluesky, Mastodon and Pixelfed. Do it.

This is a uniquely American problem. The brown creeper belongs to the treecreeper family whose other species are all called 'something-something treecreeper'. Even the scientific name of the brown creeper is Certhia americana. Y'all should just rename it the 'American Treecreeper', as that's what it is.

Same in Finland, to be fair. We share the same holidays.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Finland here, we have THREE! The 24th is the main day with gift giving and all, the 25th which is the same as the 24th just no more presents, then the 26th that is still a holiday.

I'm sorry, y'all Americans, you successfully turned yourselves into Russia.

Fuck that, I want to work. Everybody always thinks having a lifetime to do whatever you want to do sounds nice but it gets really boring the longer you go without a moving force in your life. Infinite leisure turns dull really quickly. Take it from someone who's without a job.

Funny seeing as how Mongolian beef actually has nothing to do with Mongolia and originated in Taiwan of all places.

I'm in Europe watching the madness unfold. I've just read my history books, people never truly rise up against their oppressors until so much heinous stuff has happened that there's no point not to anymore.
