Have you seen that article about the theory as to why? It has something to do with breaking the fish so it doesn't get stuck in their throat
I don’t think that happens as much as everyone likes to make it sound. I am curious as to the source, though.

I would hope not! Sperm whale pods typically consist of mothers and calves, and males tend to go it out solo.
