I see what you did there!
Something like that. Best avoided…
Quick calculation has ~1.2 Ci of 60-Co left. That’s 44.4 GBq… with an energy of 0.35 mSv/(GBq h) 1m from the source, you get ~15 mSv/h of energy from this ‘source’. That’s ~750 chest X-rays an hour… standing 3ft from it.
Those aren’t the rods… those are the assembly CAPS. About 350 kg each. That being said: the story of them jumping is almost certainly a myth. The rods themselves were jammed at that stage, the steam had broken the shafts, and they were stuck in place.
Sorry - 15 mSv/hr
That article’s 4 years old… we’re at ~1.2 Ci now… or 44.4 GBq. Given the decay energy of 60-Co, I get ~15 Sv/hr for a spot about a meter away from the source (back of an envelope calculation…)
I get 15 mSv/hr (or something around there) from the back of an envelope calculation…
I met him twice (in NZ) and he was one of the most impressive people I’ve ever encountered. Just… frighteningly intelligent and quick, calm and charming to chat with. Remembers detail, attentive to those around. 10-out-of-10. Would recommend.
That looks like processed rice to me
There will come a day when you realize that your boss doesn’t know what they’re doing either. Relax, and enjoy the promotion!
I, too, have a BDSM cat.
Seconded - it’s probably worth seeing someone… even for a check in. You’ll be fine: but there’s no need to make it harder than it has to be
Imagine a community without children. All removed…
A Kiwi - I was asked why I was transiting the US on the way to live in Canada. I just said - that’s where the airline takes me.
Merci for the marinara!
While this was happening, Canada was going through the same thing, even building ‘the fruit machine’ to test if public servants were gay…
Sauce is below… that’s basically the whole thing, except the logo for ‘manly rings’
I think that he’s referring to the detection of Gravity Waves… which was the *last* piece of confirmation we had to find in GR.
I once had a set of students just take a PHOTO of one kid’s assignment and submit it as an answer. “You never said we couldn’t”…
That’s pretty standard tactics. From what I’ve seen (more distantly) their lies have been easily countered! Stay strong!
Or a heart attack. He really needs to be on an ACE inhibitor if he keeps stressing like that…
#3 - Joke’s on you. My last name is has three letters and I’m gay…
I’ve lost count. How many countries are on fire now?
It *could* be Parkinson’s, but it would have been early to see it in 1936… I suspect this was the meth more than the Parkinson’s
“Picture A Scientist”
Unfortunately, the evidence shows the opposite. There’s a Netflix documentary about this at the moment…
Almost certainly Leucochloridium, but that’s not the species: which would be green. My guess is Leucochloridium variae…
I think this one happens to be Acanthacorydalis fruhstorferi - which would make this specimen Chinese… but there are close relatives here
Your point isn’t lost. I will note that Canada still hasn’t provided clean drinking water to hundreds of reserves... etc etc
