Many treat celebs like childhood friends they know well. Thus suicides/sexual harassments/etc. come as a shock - "That's not like them!"
Man, y'all can't even complain about traffic without throwing in a dig at identity politics these days.
So many men dismiss the idea completely so as to not feel "gay" that getting accurate and reliable data on the matter seems very difficult.
A nest of white dudes with victim complexes, mostly. Anything where we're the victims, esp. false rape charge posts, are upvote gold here.
I imagine at least some of it is organized, it's naive to think imgur excempt from such shenanigans.
Most see "evil major corporation buys smaller independent company", what it actually means for anyone is always secondary in such cases.
This is definitely one of those things people will get up in arms about without really knowing what it is they're getting up in arms about.
They weren't going to stay neutral forever anyway, doubt they ever planned to. It just would've been Amazon or someone else instead.
Imagine the amount of takes ruined by at least one guy not being able to keep a straight face while filming these.
Well, kind of. Losing souls feels worse mentally than it actually is, it's a few delayed stat-ups at worst. But it does cost precious time.
Funnily enough if Dark Souls actually was as hard as the memesters make it sound like, nobody'd enjoy it. It doesn't hold your hand is all.

It's especially funny since reading comics is a common all-ages hobby in Japan while in the west it's more stigmatized, at least in public.

Imgur itself could learn from this to be honest. The vilification of women and trans people in particular both seem to be on the rise here.

Now if only old people gave equally few fucks about how other people live their lives, and about voting on matters that don't affect them...
