We are efficient or have been working to improve efficiencies where it makes sense. The “inefficiency” is often intentional. Multiple approvals for purchases prevents fraud, waste, and abuse of federal tax money. Providing citizens multiple opportunities to appeal a decision (e.g decided SSA application or FEMA aid) or to review proposals (federal register) stops fraud, waste, and abuse of federal tax money. Yes those delays suck, but it is all about checks and balances.

The federal workforce is full of people dedicated to their agency’s mission. Civil servants take their oath seriously and are there to serve their country.
