So it does actually run inference in realtime on the "classically" rendered 2D image? Wouldn't that introduce quite some latency? How do they make sure it looks consistent, i.e. the AI doesn't decide on different modifications for different frames? Since it probably requires an insane amount of computational power, wouldn't that be better spent on higher resolution, ray tracing, more detailed models...?

Dunkelflaute is a bogeyman... In practice it doesn't happen often and when it does, it's not so dramatic. In some places in the world power is interrupted in regular intervals each day and people survive it fine.

I also had a very early Windows phone as my first smartphone, it was full plastic but indestructible! Dropped it on concrete several times and it didn't even scratch. Sadly the Mini-USB connector disintegrated at some point. Now I'm sad that I dumped it - now I have the means to repair the connector and becoming a bit nostalgic...
My es was a little like that, miffed that we didn't live the jet set life. He left and now lives in a tiny one-room apartment and can't afford anything.

I'd focus too much on stitches and then on birds, then interstellar travel, then virtual memory computer systems, then the depiction of melancholy in Sci-Fi, then that one time I ate home-made Spaghetti in Vicenza - where was I? Right... The only thing that helps comes in little pills lol.

The financial crisis was "just" about money, but now the entire tech world and everybody who uses any tech at all (i.e. the entire economy) will implode, because everything relies on AI today. When AI stops being available (because the business model doesn't work), everything will stop working. File an insurance claim, get credit, car license, ...? Too bad, the AI-powered server is down.
