'Military History Visualised' did a good video on YT about this. TLDR, only used in very limited numbers on the front.
"Helping France in a war against Britain? Doesn't sound like our business at all..." (Well, Britain and most of Europe by 1800's).
Zero deaths from Covid? Okay the population is only 250k but still that's an amazing achievement.
Whoa there! That's crazy talk! But seriously this is so important, don't blame the child for the sins of the parent (or great - great GP).
Didn't the CSA constitution forbid states in the CSA from banning slavery? If so, how can it be about states rights?
This plan does seem a bit extreme, I think deleting Corsica off the face of the earth is too much...
I suspect WW2 and revolutionary war would be worse than Covid as a %. But lasted years. Possibly 1812? Civil war was obviously also bad.
Yeah I'm surprised when people don't realize this. It's similar here in the UK, Private is there if you want it. It's not outlawed.
For one comparison. UK NHS budget is £153bn (18/19). That's about £2,300 per citizen. Or about $3,000. Some Euro countries spend a bit more.
Agreed, Brexit was a terrible idea. But this particular mess is like 1/3rd Brexit, 1/3rd Covid and 1/3rd long term gov planning failure.
Acknowledging the flaws of a nations past does not detract from it's present day. If anything, it shows a mature nation state.
That's a lot, the UK 2017 general election cost £140m (for a nation of 65m people). So about $190m. Wonder why there's the difference?
Not all deaths resonate equally in people's perceptions unfortunately. Arguably unfair, but it's human nature I think, can't help that.
UK does have higher population but yeah we just accept Covid at this point apparently. We have had 130k die so I'd defo rather be in Aus.
Yeah I'm worried about the winter here. Yes deaths are way down but 100-200 a day is still a lot. Hope it doesn't climb any higher.
I don't think any American General could win Afghanistan. The problems weren't just military. Politics, Economics, Cultural issues etc.
Yeah this guy is dumb. And our fee system is stupid. I'm okay with some uni fees but not £9k a year.
I thought more than 600k died in civil war alone? CW plus WW2 (400k?) and WW1 (100k). Maybe my numbers for CW are wrong.
Battle of Pavia is a good example of firearms (& pikes) beating heavy Cav. By no means the only one though. Combined arms wins battles!
I'm annoyed about this in the UK. We lost 455 KIA in Afghan and spent £Bn's. So I imagine I must be even more annoying for Americans.
I mean probably most WW2 era subs could do China to Australia and back. U boats raided the east coast of US from France in WW2.
Shit ton of money from North sea oil doesn't hurt either. But no doubt Norway has spent & invested it very well.
True. Also literally 10,000s a month were dying across Asia under Japanese occupation. Ending the war earlier saved lives beyond Japan.
I still cant believe that guy is an actual human and not a rich-stereotype caricature bought to life somehow.
Sad to hear this. I caught it after 1 jab too and was kinda like a bad cold/flu. Maybe I was lucky? Hope he gets better soon!
I reckon he would know quite a lot of what's happening even without sight. The noise and emotion of the crowd will tell you a lot.
Article mentions ROK historically having "Lukewarm" Refugee attitudes so this is good to see! Lots of countries will need to take Afghans.
Who on bloody earth thinks the Nazis were left wing? What? That's insanity! Basically from day one they were a reaction TO the left wing.
