Making sure the light doesn't go out in my son's eyes is one of my priorities as a dad. I talk to him, I don't spank him, I explain things, we have fun, I expose him to new things, I don't belittle or demean him. I still teach him life lessons, guide him, discipline him, I just not an asshole about it. At 10 he's considered everywhere we go as "the good kid". He's really turning into a wonderful human being. All I had to do is remember how I was raised and just do the opposite.
