It is interesting seeing good actors with bad scripts, it was the same thing with the prequels.
It would have been so easy for them to be like, "Here's a scene of Rey home ALONE, with nothing but old holos of Luke/Anakin/Han Ect." Still gets the point that she is all alone on Jakku but gives us a reason for her knowledge, why she's such a fan girl. And, if they showed this being a part of her routine then it would give context to why she loves Han/Luke/Leia so much and why losing Han hit her so hard; because he's a father figure in the only education she had as a child growing up alone.

If your state is Colorado, cyclists can run stop signs and red lights, so long as other vehicles and pedestrians are not present/do not have right of way, IE a green light or walking indicator. If your state is not Colorado, I suspect your law is likely similar.
