Middle ones, while pretty, I find much harder to use because their metal and more flat then roundish in orientation

It's possible you talk less around core family because your use to them bring the "adults" but around others you can be free & that's why?

Have you tried the oragami fold cut? They ensure a big bridge piece is up under your glasses while still covering your chin. Plenty of space
