I always felt this way about bacon. The problem with american bacon is how thin it is cut. It loses flavor and texture. Thick cuts are best.

I just kinda winged it so amounts are aproximations but... I used 3 large pears, peeled and diced. 1 Cup Water, 1/2 Cup Vinegar (1/2)
It had quite a bit of flavor.
2/2 - The store had no plums, so I went with pears instead.
I don't put much effort in. I only made it because I was sitting in the car and wondered if I could make a plum sauce without help. 1/2
It was actually pretty fantastic. Would make again.
Was not pounded and is too baked to be schnitzel.
