As a photographer, sports in particular, you should operate on the professional ethics of not releasing unflattering images. This could have longstanding consequences that could affect your career as a photographer. Remember the Olympic diver pics from years ago that got photoshopped onto toilets etc? I've seen a photographer lose access to all sporting events due to things like this. When you are at the level of AP, Getty, major outlets, this could be devastating to your livelihood/career.
