Imgur can have a few history meme dumps. As a treat
Also the only us president not to have English as his first language
Harpers ferry was never meant to be a battle, it was meant to be a robbery. It was chosen because it was one of only 2 federal armories in the US at the time, and it was the only one south of the Mason Dixon line. Harpers ferry was not to be the site of the uprising, but instead it was where they would aquire the arms to equip a revolt. Not gonna argue that Brown botched it, he did, but he did not intend to fight there.
That wasn't really the case since 1804, by Lincolns era and into the late 1890s, your vice president was an opponent who wasn't a member of the other party, to broaden their electoral grasp and party support. The VP was a toothless position, and only really became of consequence after a presidential assassination like with Lincoln or Garfield
Ah yes, the classic, "nuh-uh that's what you are!"
You sound like a miserable person to be around
There were multiple battles launched by the rebels within West Virginia, the seige of Harpers Ferry to name one. West Virginia was mostly small landowners and poor rural substance farmers in 1860, very few of whom owned slaves or had access to slaves within their communities. Slavery was not the economic giant it was in the rest of the state, mostly because it's near impossible to grow cotton on a plantation scale there. Being a border area was a factor to be fair
The commenter you're replying to isn't saying they're the same in terms of their exact deeds. They're saying that Isreal is being viewed internationally the way South Africa was during the late Cold War. It's not about who is worse, it's about their reputation specifically. Its sinking beyond repairable levels, with them being rightfully seen as an authoritarian, segregationist nation willing to use violence against people who should have equal protections under their laws.
Ok Jefferson Davis
You remind me of the kind of person who talked a lotta guff about NFTs before that bubble burst. Mad tulip buyer vibes.
*dismissive wanking gesture*
While a lot are Christian, there are non religious people involved too. I know a lot of younger people who are non religious, agnostic, or atheists, who got on the right wing bandwagon in recent years. Think of the "sceptic" community, people who argue against climate science and what they would call "identity politics" Interestingly there's a number of feminists in this camp (TERF's) who jumped in bed w the right because they view Trans people as a threat to womanhood. It's weird.
In 2023 a golf course near my home lied about having a burn permit and burned brush to get their greens ready after winter. The fire got out of control, and started a wildfire that destroyed over a dozen homes including my own. They were fined a pitiful sum and faced no other punishment for the damage they caused. The fire also killed my cat Luna.Golf courses are generally run by and for rich bastards who don't care about the communities they exist within.
Circumcision reminds you that god doesn't want blood and death?
Needing a tangible source is not AI thinking, it's the basis of writing history and scholarship. The fact that you think sources only come from the internet is also false. Books exist. Journal articles exist. Finding evidence for a claim is the most important part of research. If you don't claim a source, it doesn't mean what you say is 100% false, but it does say you were too lazy to even try and present accurate information. Information is out there,Look for it
Oh wow an what an excellent use of stolen art pumped through an image generator, some people just blindly cry out against stealing art to make ai content!
The colonies in the maritimes are 100% inaccurate, new Sweden was close ot modern day New Jersey/ Pennsylvania/New York
Honestly as an Albertan, yes and no. The hardliners here are way less common than the US I've talked to a TON of folks who vote conservative cus of what basically amounts to tradition at this point, and they're pissed. They may be Cons, but they're canadian Cons, and Smith cozying up to Trump after all the 51st state shit has become a breaking point for them. They're are still the crazies, but they're a tiny group comparatively.
75% of the ads I see on imgur are either ai garbage, actual fraudulent products, games that are using other games content pretending its theirs, or are so confusing I genuinely have no idea what they sell. Yall need higher standards.
He was president before Lincoln... of all the bad president's before the Civil war who did nothing to stop the issues dividing the country from boiling over, he was the most to blame
I lost everything in the fires in canada 2 years ago. I'll never forget seeing the embers in the night sky. Glad your loved ones are safe, and while it's just things, I really hope you get to go back to them soon.
You sound like the type of coworker who it was fun to work shifts with
I was the one filming last year
Lost my house to a wildfire in 2023. I don't have to assume.
There's no conclusive evidence that there were monks on Iceland pre Norse settlement, only a single written source dating 250 years after initial settlement, which was written when Iceland had converted. No other written evidence exists, and there is no archeological evidence.
Iceland

There are hippos, I couldn't find any accounts or articles referring to them killing people, and several saying there has been none, though there has been attacks
500 people are killed yearly, globally, there are no reported deaths to hippos in columbia
