there IS such a thing as condoms being the wrong size to safely use - too big or too small can cause slips or breaks. but that doesn’t mean “guess we don’t use one”, it means “hold on sex until I’ve got the right size”.

the frustrating thing is, they used to! there was a bunch of this in the 80s. The Blob, The Thing, The Fly - all remakes of 50’s B-movies that got big, creative, stylish remakes that did the concept justice like the originals couldn’t.
The parts of that series just focusing on Boba and the Tusken were the parts that worked for me - fuck becoming a crime boss (which barely mattered anyway), the show should have been Boba rallying the Tusken tribes to retake their homeland from the crime syndicates and colonists
i’ve had one like that (minus the cup at the end) and i’m sorry to say it was every bit as incredible as it looks. my life peaked.

i do understand why they didn’t, tho. it makes it feel more distinct from Theoden’s story, which is already a leader being poisoned by dark outside influence, and Saruman’s similar story with his own palantir. The way they did it, you still get the despair and bitterness of being the only ones who have been keeping up the fight against Mordor. Tho i agree they simplify the reasons for Denethor’s despair so much it makes him come across as more villainous than victim, which is a shame.

i think for people who would pick up on the cultural references it was obvious - also the fact that he’s LITERALLY a superhero version of the golem - but if you didn’t know those, they never explicitly reference his religion or heritage until that 2002 story.
yep! in the 70s i think - i assume that’s what the first image is an homage to. but it was just a private thing he made for friends and family, Marvel didn’t officially recognize Ben Grimm’s jewishness until a story in the early 2000s
love that Ben Grimm gets to be an openly jewish character now - sad that it didn’t get to happen in Kirby’s lifetime, even with how obvious the intent of the character always was
